1. License grant

Buying a Mac Note Taker lifetime license grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Mac Note Taker macOS application on up to three Macs you own or control. The license is perpetual and includes future updates within the v1.x major-version line.

2. What you can do

  • Install and run Mac Note Taker on up to 3 Macs.
  • Record, transcribe, and process meetings - including for commercial use.
  • Export transcripts in any format the app supports.
  • Move your license to a new Mac by deactivating an old one.

3. What you can't do

  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or your license.
  • Reverse-engineer the app to bypass the 3-Mac cap or licensing.
  • Share your license with people outside your household / immediate team.
  • Record meetings without complying with the laws and policies that apply to you.

4. Refunds

14 days, no questions asked - minus a 5% processing fee.

Email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase. We refund 95% of what you paid; the 5% covers the Stripe processing fee that doesn't come back to us when a charge is refunded. Your license is revoked the moment the refund is issued - Mac Note Taker reverts to the free tier on every Mac.

5. Free tier

Without a license, Mac Note Taker still runs. Mic capture, live transcript, and manual speaker rename are free forever. Paid features (system audio, AI summaries, calendar attendees, exports, cross-meeting speaker recognition) are locked.

6. Updates

Lifetime includes all v1.x updates. A future v2 with a substantially new feature set may be a paid upgrade. We'll give license holders 30 days' notice and an existing-customer discount.

7. As-is + liability cap

Mac Note Taker is provided "as is". We've done our best to make it stable, but software has bugs, macOS APIs change, and audio is messy. Total liability for any claim arising from your use of Mac Note Taker is capped at the amount you paid for the license in the 12 months prior to the claim.

8. Recording laws

Recording laws vary. In most US states and across the EU, recording a meeting you participate in is legal with disclosure to the other participants. You are responsible for complying with the laws and policies that apply to you. Mac Note Taker's local-only flow keeps audio inside your trust boundary, but it does not replace your obligation to disclose recording.

9. Termination

We can revoke a license for fraud, chargebacks outside the refund window, or material violation of these terms. We can't revoke for casual use you don't owe us a justification for.

10. Governing law

Mac Note Taker is operated as a sole proprietorship from the EU. Disputes are resolved in the courts where the operator resides, except where mandatory consumer protection law gives you a more favorable forum.

11. Changes to these terms

Material changes get emailed to license holders 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that = acceptance.
